httpd.conf file is Apache server configuration file. In that file you can configure Apache server settings. You can to install Apache HTTP server in many OSes. And I ever install it on Mac OS X and Windows XP. And Apache doesn't provide a GUI configuration screen so you must find the httpd.conf file and then open it with text editor application such as notepad to configure it.
On Windows XP you can find the httpd.conf file in conf folder inside installed Apache folder (if you installed on its default folder so you can find it in : C:\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\ folder.
And on Mac OS X you can find the httpd.conf file inside folder: /etc/httpd/folder.

File extensions are identification for your file content such as .xls refer to Microsoft Excel or others spreadsheet applications. Although you also can look its icon because usually the icon represents its file content. Mac OS X by default is hide the file extensions.
To show your file extensions is very easy. On Finder menu, click Finder - Preferences menu, click Advanced tab and then check Show all file extensions check box. Close the Preferences window.
And your file extensions are shown.
If you're a new Mac user and using Windows as your operating system before maybe you have to adapt for Mac instruments. And that happened to me when I was searching the way to create shortcut for my data files. I've written an article that discusses about substitute between Mac OS X and Windows XP and hopefully, that article may help you to learn Mac OS X.
OK, back to main article, to create new "shortcut" on Mac OS X. Mac OS X calls it 'alias'. Alias has a same function with shortcut on Windows. But, they have a little difference between them. Shortcut on Windows is easy to lost its link to original file such as if you move the original file, shortcut would lost its link to original file (although you'll ask to find the main file when you open the shortcut file that has lost its link but that's pretty annoying for me). If Mac OS X's alias always updates its main file location so, it's doesn't lost its link to its original file even you move the original file except if you delete the original file.
On Windows, to create a shortcut, click the original file, press Ctrl key, click and hold it and then point to your destination folder (you also can choose to the same folder with your original file) and then release the mouse button. The another way is right clicking the file and chooses Create Shortcut menu in context menu, and then you'll get its shortcut in original file's folder.
On Mac OS X, to create a shortcut, press Option + Command key, click the file, and hold it and then pointing to your destination folder and you'll get a new alias in there (you allowed to pointing to original file's folder to create alias in that folder). The another way to create alias, right click the file, and choose Make Alias menu in context menu.
To recognize an original file or a shortcut/alias, usually a shortcut/alias file has a little arrow on its icon.
First time, I used Macbook, I was confusing when my Macbook is not responding. I couldn't Force Quit my trouble application and even I can't to click Apple - Shut Down menu. And finally, I found the solution. Actually, the solution is very easy to do and you can find it in its manual book but maybe you don't read it yet.
Just press Power button and hold it for approx. 10 seconds or wait until your Macbook is shut downed. Is it very easy, isn't it?
Merry Christmas! Hopefully, Christmas this year brings messages of peace to you. And to celebrate Christmas, I've found a great wallpaper to create Christmas atmosphere in my Macbook. I found it on Apple website. It calls Wallpaper clocks Christmas pack 1.0.
I suggest you to install it to create atmosphere of Chritmas onto your Mac.
Usually, I restart my Macbook once in 7 days. And since I use it for my activity as a computer programmer, I often got my Macbook has temperature at 176°F (or 80°C). And I worried about my proccessor heat and all components inside my Macbook. And I always want to monitor them.
And I found a great tool to monitor them.
The tool calls iStat menus and it's free!
To install it, just download it first then double click the downloaded file and follow the instruction (take about 4-5 steps) and iStat will located on menubar/menulet. You can configure it in Mac OS Preferences menu.
iStat can monitors these items :
CPU usage.
7 display modes, multiple core support. Memory usage.
4 display modes, page ins/outs and swap usage display.
Disks usage and activity.
6 display modes and the ability to hide disks you don't want to see.
Monitor networking.
Current and total bandwidth, peak bandwidth and IP addresses.
Temperatures.
Monitor the temperature of your Mac with 2 display modes and the ability to hide sensors you don't want to see.
Fans.
Monitor the fan speeds in your Mac. 2 display modes and the ability to hide sensors you don't want to see.
Bluetooth.
Control bluetooth status plus monitor the battery level of your Apple wireless keyboard or mouse.
Date & Time.
Date, time a calendar and a world clock in your menubar.
That's great for a freeware.
As a Mac user, I ensure your had know that Finder has not a Refresh button. Sure, I also know that Finder is a great file browser. But by my experiences with MacOS X, sometimes Finder cann't refresh its contents.
Then I search for a tool that has function to refresh them if Finder doesn't refresh them automatically and I'd find it today and the best part is it's a freeware!
It call Refresh Finder and developed by Soderhavet. Refresh Finder will put a button on your Finder toolbar and if you press the button your files and folders in opened folder will refreshed.
To install it is very easy, just download from their website the double click the downloaded file and follow the instruction.
If you're already connected to your home network or office network, you have to accustom your network setting in Mac OS X onto existing network settings.
First step, write down your network setting in Windows XP by click Start - Control Panel - Network Connections, right click your LAN's icon then click Properties menu. Find Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) in This Connection uses the following items list, click it then click Properties button.
If you've got the network settings, in Mac OS X click Apple menu - System Preferences menu then click Network icon. Then click Show combobox, choose Built-In Ethernet in list, in TCP/IP section, type your old settings into it. You can see the attached picture in this article to get an visual to make it easier. Don't forget to change your Configure IPv4 combobox to Manually because Mac OS set to Using DHCP by default if your network doesn't using DHCP service.
Input your IP Address onto IP Address field, Subnet Mask onto Subnet Mask field, Default Gateway onto Router field and DNS Server onto DNS server, if DNS server is more than one server, write them per line, so type first DNS then press Enter then type your secondary DNS server address at there.
And if your LAN using DHCP service you don't necessary to input any settings (usually in DNS service you'll asked to input the DNS server value).
When I used Mac OS X for the first time, I was looking substitute softwares for my Macbook. And image browser application is one of my priority which I have to looking at. I look image browser application which has rename file by series, export to major image formats, slideshow images, basic image editing abilities and freeware :D and that's not easy... I might tried them one by one until I find it.
Obviously, I could find many image browser programs out there easily but to find the software which I like is not easy. But finally, I've find it, the application is CocoView X. CocoView X has all ability that I need. I can rename multiple files to the same filename with series number, export to major image formats and I can create a slide show from my picture files. And it's free. So my job as a web developer become more easier, I can export them to jpeg files with vary compression scale and rename many source files to the same filename format so I can organize them easily.

If you're a Mac user, I'm ensuring that Finder is one of great tools to browsing your entire storage devices. And as you know, Mac OS X has supported long file name format for long time ago.
So you sure have many files that have long name. And if you've set the Finder's view to As Columns, your long files name will cut off. When I was using Mac OS X Tiger for the first time I confused with how to expand the file name so as they exposed. In fact, the solution is very easy, just double click the || mark below scroll bar or you can click and hold it column wide is adjusted.
Fiuhhh.... sorry if my language is screw-up because I'm in bad mood today....
Finally, in a few hours we can get Leopard after delayed for about 6 months. Apple's Website had been put a countdown in there. When I write this article the countdown shown 4 hours 23 minutes, Leopard will be launch.
And I am still thinking, is it worthed to upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4) to Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5).
Apple write that Leopard will includes 300 new features which can attractive all Mac user to upgrade to Leopard. And I read all 300 new features and I interest these Leopard features :
Because I don't try it yet, I can not describe them by detail and I hope when I already try it, it will beyond my expectation. And I think is worth to upgrade.
If you ever install MySQL on Mac OS X and get some troubles with it, usually first step that will taken is reinstall it. Because uninstall MySQL on Mac OS X is not a easy, usually we will reinstall it directly. Unfortunately, MySQL installer always reinstalls existing MySQL with upgrade mode. In my experiences, if you're continuing in upgrade mode, it cannot solve the problem. I suggest you to reinstall it in fresh installation, with that mode MySQL will overwrite all its files with new one. And I can’t warranty if it always solving your MySQL troubles but according my experiments, for several times, reinstall in fresh installation mode, the problem will solved.
But how do to install it in fresh install mode? MySQL will display the Upgrade button on installation screen, if you have an existing MySQL in your system.
To solves this problem, you have to login as Administrator to do this. Mac OS X will put every .pkg files in /Library/Receipts/ folder.
To go there you can use Finder or Terminal. If you're using Finder, go to Macintosh HD - Library - Receipts folder then find file mysql-5.0.45-osx10.4-i686.pkg (because my existing MySQL version is 5.0.45, so the file name may vary, if your existing MySQL version 5.0.41 so your files has name mysql-5.0.41-osx10.4-i686.pkg) then delete that file.
Or if you're using Terminal, open your Terminal first then at prompt type cd /Library/Receipts. If you already in there, type cd mysql-5.0.45-osx10.4-i686.pkg (or you can type cd mysql(then press TAB key here to completed the file name, you can type it repeatly until you find the file) and then use commands rm and rmdir in that folder to delete files and folders, you can use wildcard for files, like rm *.*.
After file mysql-5.x.xx-osx10.4-i686.pkg already removed, try to execute MySQL installer again then you get Install button in there to make fresh install.
If you're feel your Mac run slower may first step that you take is check softwares lists that loaded on startup. As you know that every operating system when login will load several softwares that had configured to run on startup but sometimes if its startup items have so many program inside it so your operating system will takes more time to load all them. If you want remove startup items on Windows XP check here
If you want remove startup items on MacOS X click Apple logo - System Preferences menu. After System Preferences is opened click Account icon and click Login Items tab.
And highlight startup item that will removed and then click (-) button. It's so easy, isn't it ?
This time I want share my favourite Mac websites that I visit them when I want get news, tips, tricks or to download softwares.

When I get trouble with my Windows XP, one of solution to fix it I press F5 or F8 key when Windows XP boot up to entering Safe Mode or open boot menu. But I am confusing when I get problem with my Macbook, at that time I want repair my harddrive permission and my friend suggest to me to use the utility from MacOS X Disc 1 that's bundle with my Macbook and to use it he says to boot up with that DVD. For the first time I insert the DVD and it's not boot from the DVD and I ask my friend that has experience 8 years using Mac and he share me a paper that contain key list that can press when MacOS X boot up.
And I want to share it for you...
Remember, press these keys when Mac start boot up and hold it until its" function" has shown.....Key Function C Boots from CD/DVD drive N Attempts to start up from a NetBoot server R Reset the display for a Powerbook T Set your Mac become a Target client as a mountable Firewire drive. To exit this mode press Power button. This function is useful when you want transfer data to other Mac. X Holding this key will forces your Mac boot to MacOS X, even your configuration is Mac OS 9 as your default startup disk. Command+S Boots in single-user mode Command+V Boots into verbose mode, displaying all the startup message on screen Shift Boots your Mac in Safe mode. Mouse button Holding down at startup ejects any removable disk (CD/DVD) Option Holding down the Option key will open Start Manager window. Shift+Option+Command+Q Logs you off without first prompting you. Ctrl-Eject (F12) Open a dialog box that contain option to Restart, Sleep and Shutdown.
This night is like the other night, just dark and bored. But suddenly, I have an idea to write this article that contains my reasons why I am very like with Mac and want to migrate to Mac (from Windows series ehmmm....). I had been using PC for 17 years from MSDOS 5, MSDOS 6.22, Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 95b (a lot people call it Windows 97), Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP and I am thinking to migrate to Windows Vista and I calculate it I need to pay approx. $700 (it's my calculation hehehehe) which are for $399 for Windows Vista Ultimate (huh that's very expensive for me) and $300 (or more) for upgrading my computer (I have to change everything from processor, memory, graphic card that DirectX 10 support) and that's price to "enjoy" Vista.
So, I am thinking to buy a new iMac for my wife because with $1000, I will get new monitor, harddrive, keyboard, mouse, memory, dvd drive, processor and the most important is new original operating system, MacOS X, because I had bought a Macbook and I start to like it.
But on other hand I still using my 'lovely' Windows XP for Visual Basic 2005, so in order to objectively, I write this article with my wife who using my Macbook too sometimes (hmmm so serious...:D ). And remember, this reasons made from comparing experiences using Windows for years and Macbook for 2 months. And no offense please hehehhe this is just our own opinion so you may have different opinion about this too.
And these are our reasons to migrate to Mac :
1. Easy Setup, when I bought Macbook I just come to store, choose it, pay it, go home, open a brown box, open white box, open laptop cover, press power button, fill languange, user name, time zone, and begin to work, that's it, it just takes 20 minutes to begin my works, image it if compare with when you buy a new PC and install it with Windows XP (no offense please .... hehehehe)
2. Heaven to a beginner, my wife is not a 'computer freaks' but surprisingly in 3 hours she is not ask me anything although for one question ! She just doing her work to import photo from digital camera to iPhoto.....
3. Make your room be more clean, when you put iMac on your desk maybe your friend will give you a question "Where the big box ?" (I has imagine it although I don't have it yet....)
4. Faster booting time, Mac just takes 1 minute or less from press power button to start my work, even if you're using a Mac laptop you will get amazing experience, just close your laptop lid and put it to your bag when you finished your work and if you want use it again just pull it from bag, open laptop and start work....
5. Better stability, huh this is my big deal when using PC, as you know that Windows is designed for vary configuration computer and Mac designed to their own hardware so Mac has great stability when it ran. I had been using my Macbook for almost 3 months and I never get it crash although for once ! Try compare it with Windows that crashed 3 times in one day....
6. Easy installation software, you just need open .dmg file and drag it to Application folder and you run it... and I still thinking to double click install.exe file.
7. Windows run on Mac, use third party software like VMWare, Parallels Desktop to emulate Windows on a Mac.
8. Safe from Viruses, Windows has 114,000 viruses and Mac ?
9. iDVD, this great software to authoring a DVD with your own content, photo, video and the others. And you can do it with very easy interface even for a beginners and it's free !
10. iMovie DVD, a great software to capture your handycam result and edit it with easy interface and it's free !
11. Garage Band, I just plug my MIDI cable one port to my keyboard and the other to Macbook through USB port and it's works and once again GarageBand has an easy intercafe.
12. MacOS X GUI, my wife is very like with MacOS X interface, it's more eye cathing and eye candy....
13. Spotlight, just type first character to make MacOS X begin to search your files and it's very fast.
14. Dashboard, it's very help me in all ways, you may using Oxford dictionary, calculator, follow the stock by real time, display your city weather by real time, and there's still have a lot useful widget to install.....
15. Smart Folders, you may save your search result and make it as folder, so if you move the file you don't need worry about it, MacOS X will handle it.
16. Automator, it makes our routine job be more easier. You can resize image, rename it and move it to a folder with one click.
17. Support PDF (Portable Document Format that provided by Adobe) natively, if I want exchange my report document to other work friends, usually I use the PDF document when I use PC I must buy additional software to creating PDF file, if you use Mac just click Print and choose PDF and it's done....
18. Great handling windows, press F9 to tile all opened programs, F10 to tile all opened documents in one programs, F11 to slide all open programs to side and show your desktop.
19. Remote Control, Apple has bundle a remote control for every iMac, Macbook, Macbook Pro. Use it to open Front Row for play movies, music and slideshow of your picture collections. And you can use it to control your Keynote's presentation too...

Hi, today I want share about to display our history of commands. So, do you know that every command that you typed is always recorded by your system. And I think this command is very helpful for me, because when I type a complex command and I want use that command again I don't necessary to retype it just look its history and choose the number history and you will get that command again.
OK, open your Terminal first and type at prompt history and your commands history will shown on your screen and as you look every command gaved a number. And to use a command that listed in the command history just type !(number_command_history) for example if you want recall command number 200 just type !200 and chosen command will executed.
I hope this tip may help you to make your job be more easier.
Hmmm, this time I want share MacOS X hotkey and Windows hotkey. Like usual I write them left for Windows and right for MacOS X (Windows XP key = MacOS X key)
That's it, if I remember or find it again I will write it again.....
I was bought a Macbook 2 month ago and when I use it for the first time, I feel I found in MacOS X menu that have the same function with Windows. Hmm so I think this article may help a new MacOS X user that migrated from Windows XP.
